Since I was a little girl, I have seen myself as a doctor, working on a hospital taking care of patients. I changed my mind and even though of becoming a dentist or a teacher but now I know for a fact that I want to become a Pediatrician. Combining together two of the things I like the most will make my perfect carreer. Pediatricians are qualified doctors who have undertaken postgraduate training to specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of disease and care of children. Even though this career become challenging, seing a kid getting better is stimulating and rewarding. Pediatricians meet patients and parents to gather information and conduct examinations to identify health problems. They also order tests to aid diagnosis, analyze data and undertake consultation with other physicians. I will be working not only with kids but with their families and communication skills are a must.Listening skills are also vital, as is the willingness to learn from patients. Having compassion, resilience and a sense of humor is important. Open-mindedness as to what constitutes a family is critical. The rewards are that the work is compassionate and caring - and frequently fun. This career can be summarized as the taking care of kids from birth to adolescence focusing not just on physical health, but also the emotional and social.Wednesday, December 16, 2009

This is a big issue that we all face when we enter college and even in college when you have to complain about why they did not approve your application or why you have not received the money yet. It is the main issue why college kids drop out, just because they do not have sufficient money to cover their living expenses plus school. For me, it was tough. I applied since I was in high school, six months before graduation and still had difficulties. Every time I turned in a paper, something else was missing and the processing time of each paper is from four to six weeks. The waking ups extremely early, to waiting in line five, six and seven hours without an explanation was devastating. When the beginning of the semester was approaching I thought I was not going to be able to start and it was when I decided to ask the school for a short-term loan. I started school, everything was going good but no financial aid and the books had to be bought. After waiting and waiting, I went back to North Campus and talked to the lady and she told me everything was ready, to give her another week to have it deposited in my account. And that was it. I got my money, payed my loan and bought my books. It was very stress releasing when I heard that now financial aid was going to cover a whole year, so we do not have to apply every single semester. At least that is something we do not have to stress about anymore.

Finals
This is the time of the year that I hate the most. Many things are do and long study guides to review. Even though this has being a tough first semester for me I am happy and proud because I know I have done more than enough to try to get the best grades possible. I am only taking three exams since my humanities professor said I did not had to take the test because I had enough points to pass even if I failed the exam. I worked hard on that class so I really deserved a recognition. On my other classes I am struggling a little since I really wish to do well and get a good grade. The class I hate the most, DEP2000, has a very hard study guide and I do not know if I will be able to get all that information in that is why I have to work harder and study even though I do not feel like it. ENC1101 is not hard; I mean is all from the readings. I must say I have to go over them since I have forgotten some titles, but I am sure I will do fine. The class that I am less worried about is SLS1125 since the test is open book and the course itself is easy, everything is common sense. I am a little under stress but I am hoping to finish this semester with good grades.Tuesday, December 8, 2009
Next Semester Expectations.
I am very excited about next semester because I was able to choose the classes I wanted. Also because all my financial aid papers are ready and because I looked up the professors I will have and found out they are very nice. I have been a lucky person because since I entered I have being getting the best professors in Miami Dade which have helped me a lot. I have to admit that I was a little mad because I wanted to get professor Calderin for ENC1102 but I did not. I found his class extremely helpful and he was always there for me every time I had a question. Even though writing is not my thing, I was able to do all the essays and get a good grade while learning new strategies to improve my writing skills. The lectures were interesting and when the stories got hard, there was professor Calderin to help u7s out and clarify any questions we had. I hope my next professor is as good as he is and hopefully I will learn as much as I did in ENC1101.Tuesday, December 1, 2009
Are children smarter than adults?

I believe that parents try to teach their kids what they want them to learn. Now a days you see adults that aren't really adults, they just have the body but their minds are really immature.Parents do not want their children to not make the same errors that they did. By teaching children as much as the adults have learned eventually makes the children become smarter but not necessarily wiser than their parents or older people. Now a days you see that sometimes parents are immature and act like their kids little friend. This happens because you see teenagers having kids and getting married. . Over time, because of experiences, internet, video games and even TV, kids have become smarter and more mature than their parents. Because kids like to explore, they try to learn about everything which somehow makes them more advance than their parents. Society and adults are not really thinking about the dangers of this issue but we should be concerned and act mature enough in front of our kids and even watch what they do at all times.
IEP (Individualized Educational Plan)
I am a little concerned with an email I received from Kim, our academic advisor because it seems like I am missing the IEP. This stand for the Individualized Educational Plan which is basically the mapping of all the proper classes I need to take in order to graduate in the proper amount of time with the major I chose. I think is very nice to have this kinds of plans and appointments with people that really want to help so that you can save time and money. I personally appreciate the fact that she took her time to let me know what I was missing in order to give me a hand with it. I know people that take unnecessary classes just because they think it is required for their major but it really is not. Others take certain classes to get the money from financial aid or because their friends are on it and that is wrong. This plan allows students to know what it is exactly that they have to take, tu cut off time of being a college student. I am really excited to meet with my advisor to have planned out what courses I will take when, and that way I can estimate when I will be leaving Miami Dade College with my AA. This is all about saving time, money and preparing for the near future.
